Rediscover bingo

What a great game and it comes in so many guises. You can play number bingo, letter bingo, shapes bingo, colour bingo, English or French or ‘whatever language you’re learning’ bingo. You can play animal bingo, camping bingo, vegetable bingo and even bug bingo (oh yes you can, we’ve got the board game!!). There’s Halloween bingo, Christmas bingo, car journey bingo, leaf bingo – if you can think of it, there’s a bingo for it and kids never get bored of it whatever shape or size it comes in. We re-discovered bingo today in its very simplest form. My daughter made number cards from 1 to 20 and handed them over. She then drew a 3 x 3 ‘noughts and crosses’ style grid and chose 9 numbers between 1 and 20. I called, she crossed out. Fabulous ‘slow’ fun. She could have done with someone to play against but it didn’t matter in the slightest. She just loved sitting and listening and waiting for her numbers to be called, eagerly awaiting her moment to shout out those immortal words ‘BINGO MUMMY – BINGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!’

  1. Love bingo. Can do it for everything… In teaching, in deciding who does the washing up etc and the edge of the seat thing is great. Also by nature, and by necessity there has to be silence. And someone gets to be boss for a while, getting all the attention when they call. Love your blog slow mum. Lucky your kids are. A k
