Pack a shoebox gift for Christmas

Teaching children to give as well as receive is a very strong message at this time of the year and what better way to learn this than by getting involved with ‘Operation Christmas Child’ . It’s an amazing scheme run by Christian relief and Samaritan’s Purse which coordinates the mass collection and dispersal of hundreds and thousands of shoebox gifts to needy children around the world. It’s a wonderful project to be involved in and this weekend my daughter and I busied ourselves organising our family’s shoebox gift which will be collected from our school later this week. We filled it with lovely treats picked by my daughter, colouring crayons and pads, a cuddly toy, sweeties and games. .How wonderful to give like this and for my daughter to think about and reflect on where the items might go and who might ultimately receive her package.  This is definitely a  seasonal ‘slowie’ that we’ll be doing for years to come.
